In the residential neighbourhood of Castellaras in Valbonne, close to Mougins and Mouans-Sartoux, REGIS ELECTRIC has completed an 18 kWp solar installation with a SIGENERGY system, 18 kWh of battery storage and a 22 kW SIGENERGY EVAC electric vehicle charger.

With estimated annual generation of approximately 24,000 kWh, this project brings together solar electricity generation, energy storage and home EV charging.

We managed the project from start to finish, including local authority formalities, installation, commissioning and the Consuel electrical compliance process.

18 kWp of solar panels generating electricity for a home in Valbonne

The 18 kWp rating describes the combined nominal peak output of the installed solar panels.

For this property in Castellaras, annual generation is estimated at approximately 24,000 kWh. This electricity can help supply the home and charge the vehicle, depending on demand and the solar energy available.

Actual generation depends on sunlight, roof orientation, tilt and shading. The annual estimate is not a guarantee of output or a measure of the electricity available at any given moment.

A solar installation should therefore be designed around both the property and its occupants’ electricity use. Two homes in Valbonne may have very different requirements, even with similar roof areas.

18 kWh of SIGENERGY battery storage to use more solar energy at home

Battery storage allows some of the electricity generated during the day to be used later.

When solar generation exceeds demand, and operating conditions allow, part of the surplus can charge the batteries. That energy can then be released when solar generation falls short, particularly in the evening.

The 18 kWh battery system helps increase solar self-consumption and reduce the amount of electricity purchased from the grid.

The two units describe different things: 18 kWp is the peak capacity of the solar panels, while 18 kWh is the stated energy storage capacity. The energy available in practice depends on the system’s operating limits and settings.

The aim is to improve the household’s energy independence. The level achieved varies with consumption, the season and how the equipment is used, including vehicle charging.

Measured results: very low reliance on the grid, even in October

The SIGENERGY monitoring data shows how the installation performs in everyday use. On 16 October 2026, the solar panels generated 47.89 kWh, while the home consumed 36.34 kWh. The batteries delivered 13.9 kWh, helping meet demand when solar generation alone was insufficient.

Over that day, electricity imported from the grid was limited to 2.16 kWh, while 9.92 kWh was exported.

These figures demonstrate very low reliance on the grid on the day shown and illustrate the value of combining solar panels with battery storage. They are a daily snapshot rather than evidence of complete year-round energy independence: performance varies with the weather, the season and household consumption.

A 22 kW SIGENERGY EVAC charger integrated into the project

Electric vehicle charging is an important consideration when planning a solar installation. Actual charging power depends on the vehicle’s capabilities and the electrical capacity available at the property.

For this project in Valbonne, we installed a 22 kW SIGENERGY EVAC charger alongside the solar and battery system. This allows household demand, storage and vehicle charging to be considered together.

The amount of solar energy used for charging depends on when the vehicle is at home, the energy available and the system settings. It does not mean that every charging session will be powered entirely by solar electricity.

For the charger installed on this project, the client benefited from France’s reduced 5.5% VAT rate and a €400 grant from the Alpes-Maritimes Department under the Green Deal 06 scheme. These benefits relate to this particular case and do not guarantee eligibility for a new installation.

A carefully finished installation in Castellaras

How the equipment fits into the property is an essential part of our work.

On this project, we paid particular attention to cable routing, keeping it as discreet as possible to preserve the appearance of the home.

A solar and battery installation needs to meet the technical requirements of the project while also fitting neatly into its surroundings. Careful finishing is part of delivering that result.

From local authority formalities to commissioning and Consuel

The client entrusted us with the complete project.

REGIS ELECTRIC handled the local authority formalities, solar installation, SIGENERGY system and batteries, EV charger installation, commissioning and the Consuel electrical compliance process.

This gives the client a single point of contact to coordinate the work and answer questions about the installed equipment.

Frequently asked questions

How much electricity does an 18 kWp solar installation generate in Valbonne?

For this project in Castellaras, annual generation is estimated at approximately 24,000 kWh. This estimate is specific to the property. Other installations will vary according to roof characteristics, shading and sunlight.

What does 18 kWh of battery storage provide?

The batteries store some of the electricity generated for use later, such as in the evening. They help increase the amount of solar energy used at home, within the limits of their available capacity and operating power.

Can solar panels charge an electric vehicle?

Yes. With a suitable configuration, some of the solar electricity can be used to charge a vehicle. The amount depends on charging times, solar generation and the home’s other electricity requirements.

Does a solar installation with batteries make a home completely energy independent?

Not automatically. Energy independence depends on generation, consumption, storage and the season. Batteries alone also do not guarantee electricity during a grid outage: that requires a suitable backup configuration.

Can REGIS ELECTRIC manage the administrative side of the project?

Yes. For this installation in Valbonne, we handled local authority formalities, installation, commissioning and the Consuel electrical compliance process.
